THIS THIRD INDIVIDUAL PROJECT WAS BASED ON MY COLOR, MATERIAL, AND FINISH DESIGN SUBMISSION FOR NEW BALANCE AND PENSOLE. MY RESEARCHED EXPLAIN THE SEASON OF AUTUMN THROUGH THE WORKS OF GRAPHIC ILLUSTRATION, MOOD BOARD REPRESENTATION, COLORBLOCKING, AND FINAL SKETCHING.

[NOVEMBER 5TH - NOVEMBER 16TH 2018]

MON-WED: NOVEMBER 5TH - 7TH

GRAPHIC ILLUSTRATIONS & MOOD BOARDS

SOFT COLOR PALETTE.jpg
WARM COLOR PALETTE.jpg

I wanted to represent day versus evening for Autumn. Both color palette ideas gave me a sketch of what specific colors I wanted to use for my mood boards and sketches.

Each graphic illustration represents the soft and warm colors of minimal characters of an animal. Each graphic has a comical effect but behind the colors shows the true meaning of each character, representing gender equality.

Everything is parallel. I wanted the designs to represent the period of harvest time, where crops have already been gathered and the land is empty for new growth of crops.

The athlete is very important within this process and is the target market for New Balance. Figuring ideal materials to use from my design inspiration gave me a broader view on mesh materials, metal-like designs, and air-breathable foam patterns.

Autumn is the element of metal. Each material I researched was based off of metal-like designs or patterns in my material inspiration. Each inspirational picture represents the parallel and spacious lines of farmlands in my mood boards.

FINAL MOOD BOARDS

For both mood boards, I wanted to represent what the athlete is doing per day in the season of Autumn. During the day of harvest time, the crops are already gathered from the farmland the land is appeared to be empty and spacious for new seeds to plow. The evening period shows the preparation for the new seeds to grow. The farmlands are more fulfilling and stable as new crops grow for the spring.

DRAFTS & FINAL SKETCHES

CREATED THIS SKETCH INSPIRED BY AN OLD SHOE SKETCH I DID FOR JURASSIC WORLD. I COMBINED THE 574 NB SKETCH TO MY OLD SKETCH FOR AN ORIGINAL NB DESIGN FOR THS PROJECT.

FOR THE UPPER TECHNOLOGY: I WANTED TO KEEP A SIMILAR SILHOUTTE OF THE NB 574 BUT BROADEN THE NB LOGO, A SMALL LACE WRAP WITH A DINOSAUR EYE SHAPE FOR THE EYELETS. ALSO, I WANTED THE TONGUE TO HAVE A DIFFERENT SHAPE OF THE LOGO ITSELF, SAME DESIGN AS THE BOTTOM HEEL OF THE SKETCH.

FOR THE MIDSOLE TECHNOLOGY: I WANTED TO HAVE AN ENCAP FOR THE SAME SILHOUETTE AND EXTRA CUSHION IN THE INSOLE FOR SUPPORT.

FOR THE BOTTOM TREAD: I WANTED THE DESIGN TO REPRESENT THE NEW BALANCE LOGO; USING CARBON RUBBER FROM THE MIDSOLE TO TREAD FOR TRACTION, SHARP MOUNTAIN DESIGN BETWEEN THE MATERIAL, AND THE LOGO DESIGN (SAME AS TONGUE ON THE UPPER TECHNOLOGY) ON THE HEEL.
